Small children instinctively move to
music without any judgment. They are having fun! Adults can reclaim this natural response, with
the added ability to control our movements and think creatively as
adults.
In expressive dance, the only limits
are the limits we put on ourselves. It's an opportunity to
stretch our self-imposed limits and try different ways of moving and
being. When they say, "dance like no one is watching," they are onto something; that something is the authentic self. The authentic self dancing is beautiful, but being beautiful is not the point. The point is to be in the moment, connected to your aliveness, enjoying your body, being part of the music and part of the group.
This is amazing fun!
